Niching and positioning are often confused.

Here's how to quickly tell them apart:

• Niche = A narrow slice of a specific market you sell to

• Positioning = How you communicate your differentiated capabilities to this narrow slice of the market

More specifically, niching is choosing a market and deciding on the problem you solve (or benefit you create) for buyers.

Positioning comes after selecting your niche.

Positioning is the stance you stake out in communicating how you are the superior, differentiated solution to the other ways your users can create their desired outcomes.
